How do you legally and effectively protect your assets from a long-term care nursing home stay? This workshop will be taught by a local Attorney-CPA. During this class you will learn how to protect your assets from nursing home costs. You may be able to save more than you would expect even if your loved one is already in a nursing home. Find out one of the most important legal documents you need, and the three things it should contain. Some feel that traditional estate planning may not work, so learn the long-term care planning steps you should be taking instead. Avoid being disqualified for Medicaid coverage by learning to properly structure transfers. The class will also help to ensure that you can legally and ethically provide a "rainy day fund" for yourself, provide an inheritance for your heirs, support yourself even if you have a nursing home-bound spouse, and qualify for hidden veterans' benefits to help you stay at home longer if you need care. Gold Star Fee: $13.50.

You see the ads on TV, in the newspaper, and online. They describe the benefits of a reverse mortgage for homeowners over 62: pay off your existing mortgage, supplement your income, pay for things like travel, home expenses or increasing healthcare costs, and more. But a reverse mortgage can be complicated and might not be right for you. While a reverse mortgage may increase your monthly income, it can put your retirement security at risk if you’re not careful. Take some time to learn about the right way to do it. We will review the different types of reverse mortgages, and show you how to comparison shop before you decide on a particular company. Each participant will receive materials that they can take home with them that will support what you learn in class. Gold Star Fee: $13.50.

A housing trend in 2009 which showed senior homeowners selling their homes, buying smaller homes and then doing a Reverse Mortgage, prompted FHA to introduce the Home Equity Conversion Mortgage (HECM for Purchase). It is used exclusively for the FHA-insured reverse mortgage loan program. This innovative new financing option enables those individuals age 62 or older to purchase a principal residence by using the power of a reverse mortgage. Are you seeking an alternative option to traditional home financing? Then this type of financing may be an attractive option for you. Each participant will receive materials that will support what you learn in class. Gold Star Fee: $13.50.
