During the Electronic Game Design Tower Defense classes, students will use Multimedia Fusion 2.5® to create their own video game. A tower defense game is one in which the programmer creates towers to defend a base which fires at passing enemies. At the end of the class, students take home a copy of the game they created. 3D printers are one of the most widely applicable and fun inventions on the tech scene today! In 3D Printing: Superheroes to the Rescue, we will explore the basic concepts of 3D printing and computer-aided design, or CAD, to design and create our very own 3D printed superhero! Students will take their hand drawn design and learn how to extrude it into a 3D model that can then be modified to be printed in 3D. No discounts or vouchers.

Watch out! It’s a shark attack! In Invader Defense: Shark Attack, we will create our own version of an invader defense game that will allow us to protect a coral reef from hungry sharks. We will use the Engineering Design Process to create a storyboard and outline the rules of play for our game. Then we will use Clickteam Fusion 2.5® to bring our storyboard to life with programming. At the end of the class, everyone takes home a working Windows-compatible game (Clickteam Fusion 2.5® does not support Mac or Android operating systems). No discounts or vouchers.

MinecraftEDU is an expansive game that lets players design and create unique worlds with amazing structures. One of the more complicated aspects of MinecraftEDU is Redstone, which is MinecraftEDU’s version of electrical circuitry. This class will introduce students to the many uses of Redstone through a Medieval themed adventure of creation, exploration, and castle besieging, with students making mine cart tracks to help them gather resources, working together to build their kingdom, and designing traps to defend their castle, all with the use of Redstone. This camp will immerse students in the expansive world of Minecraft, and will challenge student’s ingenuity and problem solving skills as they navigate through several engineering challenges. Students will learn how to use teamwork and manage resources like an engineer in the real world. The Civil Air Patrol is the official Auxiliary for the USAF. CAP is charged to conduct three ongoing missions. Best known are our search and rescue/disaster relief missions, but youth education and development (the cadet program), and aerospace education for the community at large are also integral parts of our charter. Community members need only attend 3 meetings and apply for membership, and this is open year-round. OPEN MEMBERSHIP Year-Round: community members ages 12 - 100+ yrs are welcome to attend three meetings and apply.

Crash Course Goals: Seniors leave with a strong first draft of their college essay; create their Common Application and/or other college application accounts; and learn firsthand from admission professionals what really matters in the application process. Students must commit to both days of the class, and will be expected to work on their college essay both in and outside of class. Writing homework will be assigned and MUST BE COMPLETED.
