Join cooking instructor and tour guide Jonathan Bean, the Chef-at-Large, for a culinary and cultural tour of Spain. With so many places to visit and so much to do in Spain, we’ll limit this visit to Madrid, Barcelona and the Costa Brava, as based on Jon’s recent trip there. Few countries can rival Spain’s mighty legacy of history, religion, art, architecture, and culture. We’ll visit the Prado and Reina Sofia, the magnificent work of Antoni Gaudi, and discover paradors, markets, easy-to-use public transportation, and a variety of land and seascapes. Jon will show the pictures from his recent trip to Northern Spain and you’ll discover the music and dancing of Flamenco, the art of Goya, Velazquez, Picasso and Dali, Spanish literature, and the fabulous food and wine, especially tapas, Spain’s best known export! And along with Spain’s two best known cities we’ll travel to Catalonia, to the beautiful little seaside village of Cadaques (site of Salvador Dali’s home and studio). Included are notes, bibliography, recipes and tour possibilities along with a tasting of several typical (and fabulous!) tapas. A $3 material fee is included in the tuition. Gold Card Fee: $36.
