Welcome to District 128's Community Education Program. Our goal is to provide you with a learning environment that offers quality instruction in a relaxed atmosphere to meet your needs. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us at your convenience.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS:

Where are classes held?
The majority of our classes are held at either Libertyville High School or Vernon Hills High School. However, many of our classes are also held in community locations such as businesses, studios, and restaurants. Please see specific course information for the location of the class.

Are your classes handicapped-accessible?
Community Education 128 is committed to making its classes accessible to everyone. Please call our office at (847) 932-2176 if you have accessibility concerns.

Will I receive confirmation once I sign up for a class?
Yes. You will be notified by email or you will be sent a confirmation in the mail if you do not supply an email address. If you have listed an email address and do not receive an email, please log back in and check your email address.

Do “senior discounts” apply to all classes offered?
No. The senior discount does apply to many of our classes, but not all of them. Those classes that do not qualify for the discount are pointed out in the course description. Please note that only seniors living within the district’s boundaries qualify for the discount.

Can I get a refund once a class has started?
No. If you drop a class prior to the first time it meets you can request an electronic voucher that would be good toward the tuition of any class being held during the upcoming two semesters. Refunds are not available for summer camps. The summer program is self-supported, and as such, decisions on enrollment and staffing are made based on registration numbers well in advance of the camp actually starting.

If I know I won’t make all the classes, can I get a pro-rated tuition?
No. We don’t pro-rate tuition for any of our classes.

How do I register for classes starting later in the term?
Once the registration process has started, you can register on-line, by fax, by mail, or at our office during the school day right up to the day the class starts if space is still available and the class has not been cancelled. It is best to register at least one week before a class starts.

Will I be notified if a class session is canceled due to bad weather?
Yes. Night classes will not be held because of weather conditions if the day school has been canceled that day. Emergency closing information will be announced over radio stations WKRS (1220AM), WMAQ (670AM), WGN (720AM), B96-FM (94.7FM). You may also check on line at www.district128.org. If inclement weather approaches during the course of the school day, please call our office at 847-932-2176 or 847-932-2171 after 2:30 p.m. to find out if your class will meet. Our voicemail will be updated with closing information. You can also check the Adult page of the www.ComEd128.org website for updates.

Can I request that a specific class be taught through the Community Education Program?
Yes. Please give us a call at (847) 932-2176 and share your ideas with us.

Do you ever need new instructors to teach in your program?
Yes. Go to the teaching link at the left or give us a call at (847) 932-2176 and let us know what you are interested in teaching and what your qualifications are.

I saw a class offered earlier in the term on the web site, and now it is no longer there.  Where has it gone?
Once a class is cancelled by our office due to a lackof enrollment, it no longer shows up on the web site.
